Q. What are Home Care Services?
A. The term “home care services” refers to many different services for different levels of need. They can include companion or homemaker services such as grocery shopping, light housekeeping, running errands, reading aloud, pet care, meal prep, and transportation and medication reminders. They can also include “personal care services” such as assistance with hygiene, toileting and bathing.
Q. What are the benefits of hiring from an agency?
A. If you chooses to hire a home caregiver through our agency, we will be responsible for their taxes and benefits. You will pay the agency, which will assign a worker and schedule his or her visits to you. With this arrangement, you will be freed from administrative responsibilities involved in hiring a worker directly.
Q. How do I pay for Home Care Services?
A. Home Care services are typically covered by private pay, though some long-term care insurance plans include coverage for home care. Some elderly and disabled people with a limited income may be eligible for programs that pay for home care or in-home supportive services.

A. With a phone call to our office or by filling out our online request form. Our friendly staff can handle your request and make suggestions if needed.
Q. What hours are available?
A. We specialize in Live-In, 24 hour care, hourly care (minimum of 4 hours required per day).
Q. How much notice do you need?
A. We need 2 calendar days, but can place caregivers within 24 hours if needed.
Q. Does insurance cover the cost of non-medical home care?
A. Only long-term care insurance policies cover our services. Usually health insurance policies do not cover our services.
Q. Does Medicare or Medicaid cover the cost of home care?
A. Yes, the Older Adult Waiver (OAW) for the State of Maryland, the Living at Home Waiver (LAH) for the State of Maryland, as well as the Community Based Service Waiver for Veteran Administration.
Q. What happens when the caregiver needs time off?
A. We send in a relief caregiver with similar experience to cover for the primary caregiver. The primary caregiver will normally take 5 to 7 days off every 4 to 6 weeks. It may also be on weekends or few days off after several weeks of work. Sometimes the caregiver prefers no regular time off. If the caregiver gets sick we will replace them quickly. Once a caregiver is placed, the client is never left alone without continuous care unless in situations where the caregiver needs to make short trips to the pharmacy, errands, or grocery store.
Q. Do you offer short term care?
A. Our service is set up and prices to provide long term care. Long-term care is four weeks or longer. Sometimes we can provide shorter assignments, or respite care where available.
Q. What about couples living together?
A. Our base rate is for a single individual client. There is a twenty-five (25) percent surcharge for an extra individual in the home for Homemaker/Personal Care. If the level of care is Certified Nursing Assistant Care for the second person, the surcharge is fifty (50) percent.
Q. Will you provide care five days a week if family members can manage the care on weekends?
A. Yes we can.
Q. Can I interview the caregiver first?
A. We allow an introduction to our caregiver. Our company is responsible for screening, hiring, managing, and scheduling the caregivers. If a client wants to change caregivers for any reason, we will do so as deemed necessary at no extra cost until the client is completely satisfied.
Q. Do you accept payments Bi-weekly?
A. Yes. Our billing system is on a weekly basis for your convenience. A billing statement is sent out bi-weekly or you may choose to have a coupon booklet.
Q. Do you bill before or after service is rendered?
A. We bill after services are rendered for your peace of mind. A one week deposit is all that is needed to start services.
Q. What if the client goes to a facility, hospital, or dies before the end of the month?
A. You may cancel services at any time if one of the above mentioned takes place. An “administrative start-up fee” will be deducted from the deposit only if terminated during the first month. After the first service period month, a full refund will be made for any unused days. Refund payments will be sent within 30 days of the last day of service.
